Stephen T. Whelan
| Partner Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP New York, NY Mr. Whelan is a member of Sonnenschein’s Capital Markets Practice, concentrating in asset securitization, lease financing, public finance, corporate trust and secured lending. He represents originators of financial assets, investment banks, credit enhancers, trustees and investors in the securitization of: * Leases * Auto loans * Maritime containers and other transportation assets * Timeshare mortgage loans * Health care receivables * Franchise receivables * Trade receivables * Export receivables * Various other financial assets Mr. Whelan also represents lenders, lessors, trustees and arrangers in lease financings for computers, aircraft, railcars, vehicles, maritime, medical, energy and telecommunications equipment, and also is involved in private and government financing of industrial, housing and education projects. In other structured finance areas, Mr. Whelan's work for many insurance and banking clients includes handling note purchase agreements, term loans, revolving credit facilities and letters of credit. He also represents lessors and secured creditors in workouts or bankruptcy reorganizations involving equipment leases and securitized portfolios. Mr. Whelan has been recognized by the following publications: * The Best of the Best USA 2008, in the section of "Structured Finance and Securitization," a peer review publication and the definitive guide to legal excellence in the United States, issued by Woodward/White; * The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers, a directory and web publication reflecting nomination by colleagues who recognize his work on complex transactions; * International Financial Law Review's 2007 Guide to the Leading Structured Finance and Securitization Lawyers.
