Atlantic Legal will present its Annual Award for 2006 to Thomas J. Donohue, President and Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The Annual Award Dinner will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at the Harvard Club of New York City, 35 West 44th Street. Cocktails begin in Harvard Hall at 6:30 pm, followed by dinner in the Main Dining Room at 7:30 pm. Dress is business attire.
Mr. Donohue has served as President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the world’s largest business federation, since 1997 and during that time has built the Chamber into a lobbying and political force with expanded influence around the globe.
Donohue established the Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) which has won significant legal reforms in the courts at the state and federal levels, and in elections for state attorneys general and Supreme Court judges.
The Chambers lobbyists, policy experts, and communicators have helped secure many legislative victories, including major tax cuts, more sensible workplace and environmental regulations, and increased funding for transportation. The Chamber has advanced the business argument on outsourcing and the need for balance in applying new capital markets and accounting rules, among other issues.
The Foundation has presented its Annual Award in each year since 1988 to honor a person who exemplifies the ideals and principles of public service and private enterprise.
